Product Details
Cobalt-doped Magnesium aluminate Spinel (Co:MgAl2O4, Co:Spinel) allows the generation of short nanosecond pulses with peak power near an eye-safe wavelength of 1.5um, making it ideal for telemetry applications. Co2+ doped MgAl2O4 has a wide absorption spectrum in the wavelength range of 1200 ~ 1600nm, indicating that Co2+ ions replace the tetrahedral coordination of Mg2+ ions in the lattice of MgAl2O4. Passive Q-switching of solid-state saturable absorber lasers is a very attractive q-switching technology because it can lead to the development of compact, low-cost nanosecond and nanosecond pulsed laser sources with a wide range of applications
Cobalt Spinel (Co:Spinel) -- A saturated absorber for passive Q conversion of solid-state lasers operating at a 1.5μm wavelength safe for human eyes
Laser emission at 1.5μm is very effective for some industrial applications. This is primarily due to the eye safety of 1.5 microns of radiation. Other advantages of this wavelength are high transparency in atmospheric and fused quartz waveguides, and availability of sensitive chamber temperature photodetectors (Ge and InGaAs photodiodes). All of these make 1.5μm lasers very attractive for rangefinder, environmental sensing, telecommunications, surgery and other applications. Cobalt spinel absorption peaks around 1520nm, which is the most commonly used eye-safe laser. The absorption cross sections at 1520nm and 1331 are 3.5×10-19cm2 and 2.8×10-19cm2, respectively. Er, Yb glass and Nd:GYSGG, Nd:YALO3 are reported. Q switch crystal.
